Those capsules have survived crashes over 245 MPH with little or no injuries. Our teams these days that crash reuse their capsules after inspection and recertifying.
Over Memorial Day 2003, Jerry Davis of Lake Conroe, Texas driving "War Party" a top alcohol flatbottom at Red Bluff, California had a crash at 157 MPH. As you can see in these photos the crash was violent. After the crash, the only thing floating was Jerry Davis in his capsule. The rescue team hooked up the capsule and within 2 minutes the rescue was at the shore with the EMTs. Jerry was without injuries and was released.
